 Global Event Update ¾ US: US markets closed lower. DJIA closed 0.25% lower, Nasdaq was lower by 0.16% and S&P500 fell 0.3%. The indices slipped after touching their record highs in a light trading session. Weekly jobless filing were better than expected. The concerns in the next year are likely to be inflation and the Fed moves even as the Omicron variant of the virus seems to be less potent. ¾ Europe: FTSE was down 0.24%. DAX and Stoxx 600 were up 0.21% and 0.15% respectively. ¾ Asia: Markets are trading mixed this morning. Hang Sang is up 1.9%. Nikkei is down 0.4% and Shanghai is up 0.54%. The Chinese tech stocks lead the rally. It is likely to be a short trading session today and markets in some countries are closed. ¾ Oil: Oil was down 0.96% at $76.28/barrel. Brent crude futures were down 0.8% to $78.89/barrel. The upward scare from the Omicron variant has reduced. Lesser virulent nature and the vaccination is likely to reduce the possibility of further lockdowns. In t...
